Genuine Original President Abraham Lincoln AssassinationBoston Daily Advertiser Newspaper April 15, 1865
"BY TELEGRAPH ASSASSINATION OF PRESIDENT LINCOLN!! ESCAPE OF THE MURDERER. MR. LINCOLN MORTALLY WOUNDED. WASHINGTON MAD WITH EXCITEMENT."
There is excellent detail with most of it accurate, although Booth's name was not yet known. The very last line is, "Hundreds of persons declare tonight that the assassin of the President was J. Wilkes Booth, the actor; Whether they will swear to the same thing tomorrow remains to be seen."
Top edge appears to have been trimmed. Strong black printing on primarily white paper. What appears to be a horizontal tear along the top of the first page is actually just an anomaly of the original printing - see photo. There is a damp stain entirely in the bottom margin and the left edge is rough and mostly split. The fact that there is no mourning border on this paper is apparently a time saving device, as the black mourning border was added starting on the seventeenth.
This is the entire paper of four pages, not just the front page. An exceptional example of the single most important paper from the Civil War years.
